Montoro

On January 16th, 2008, we took the plunge and bought and moved in to a large Finca (farm) near this small town called Montoro, in the province of Cordoba in the Andalucia region of Spain. It was an old olive mill, and still has the olive stones in one of the courtyards.  We had only decided in June 2008 to make the move, so we had gone from idea conception to realisation in around 6 months.

This is the house we decided to buy, it is situated in very rural Spain, we have to drive down a 5km(ish) track to get to the house, and although we do have passing traffic, it is a bit of an event and we all go to see who it is.

This building houses two apartments, the one upstairs has been used in the past for winter, because it has a big log burner, and it gets cold in the winter nights. The upstairs apartment has three large bedrooms and sleeps 6 comfortably, and also boasts a lovely terrace.  This apartment was available for holiday lets from summer 2009.

The downstairs apartment we shall move into during the summer whilst the upstairs is being let.  That has two large bedrooms so we can still have family to stay.

The brand new "Casita"was finished in spring 2009.  It is situated off of the large courtyard, the other side to these apartments, and will look over swimming pool, plus has a private relaxing area.

We also have a fantastic kitchen, where we will welcome our guests.  It houses a library of books, and dvd's that visitors are very welcome to borrow whilst staying with us.  The kitchen leads out to another beautiful courtyard, or as we have called it an indoor outdoor garden.  With plenty of shaded area and well as relaxing seating areas too.
